In Luke 22:34-48, still more of the events in the upper room unfold, shaping Peter and his immediate future. We learn with him the proper humility and proper understanding of how desperate is our need of Christ to enable us to stand for Him. Christ also shows us great encouragement in that even on Peter’s night of great failures, God’s plans for him are unshaken. John 13:1-17: On the night before the cross, Jesus washes the feet of His disciples in the upper room before Judas’ betrayal. Jesus had walked this earth without being sullied by sin at all, and in His conversation about the event with Peter, He teaches us how to maintain that state of unmuddied fellowship with God and with one another, as we each help the other to stay clean in a messy world, showing each other His mercy. “The Roller Coaster of Faith” is the next installment in the video sermon series on “The Life of Peter: Growing in Grace.” It looks at Matthew 16:13-23, and at Peter’s first height of triumph in faith, a public confession of Who Jesus is, followed by his swift plummet back down to earth (or even lower). In it we learn how to grow in knowledge of Him while remembering how humble we ought to remain about the value of our own thoughts.

“Walking with Jesus (on water)” is a sermon from Matthew 14 that teaches us about seeking God’s call and persevering in fulfilling it by faith, without fear and doubt. The Savior becomes everything we need to become all He wants us to be. This is part 3 of an ongoing series “Growing in Grace,” a study of the life of Peter.

In Luke 5, Simon hears Jesus’ teachings up close, and uses what he has to make Jesus’ words available to others in need. Then they go fishing together and Simon experiences something that begins his journey to becoming Peter, a lesson we all must learn in order to grow in the faith.
