The god atheists worship

Atheists today, lacking a god, often like to worship Richard Dawkins. (In the sense that they take his words as truth and accept them with the blindest of faiths.) Take a look at what that guy believes. Hard to believe he can even manage to dress himself, walk, and talk.

A missing link? Who do they think they’re kidding? They’re not missing a link. They’re missing the whole bloomin’ chain!

Threatened by Hawking’s statements? Hardly.

Then why would we care if silly people like Hawking and Dawkins delude themselves with the airheaded idea that there might not be a God? This video gives an answer that can actually pass the test.

Hawking’s New Book

Breaking News: This just in–Stephen Hawking’s new book actually wrote itself! Then it was published and promoted by a process of undirected natural selection.

August quote of the month

“Man requires God, whether He exists or not, because in His absence Man becomes a devil.”
–Vox Day

The line is the closing of a chapter from the book “The Irrational Atheist,” in which chapter the author very convincingly shows that both in our modern world and throughout history, atheistic morality in government produces oppression, violence, and mayhem greater than that produced by the adherents of any religion, (even Islam, which is intentionally violent and oppressive).

Is Jesus God Almighty?

And, if so, what does that mean to us? Today’s message at the church looked at those questions in a study of Luke 20:39-47. The audio recording, in English and Romanian, is here.

Dawkins is right about this part

“People certainly blame science for nuclear weapons and similar horrors. It’s been said before but needs to be said again: if you want to do evil, science provides the most powerful weapons to do evil; but equally, if you want to do good, science puts into your hands the most powerful tools to do so. The trick is to want the right things; then science will provide you with the most effective methods of achieving them.”
Evolutionionary biologist and Pope* of the New World Church of God is Probably Fake, Richard Dawkins

He’s right that wanting to do right–not technological capability–is the issue of what separates good actions from evil ones. And it goes without saying, that a want to do right instead of what is selfish simply isn’t present in the human heart until said human heart has been touched by the God whom Dawkins calls a “delusion,” to his own demise.

*That title is sarcasm on my part, since the atheists who trouble themselves to write me lengthy hate mail tend to view Dawkins with unquestioning blind faith as their spiritual leader, and since Dawkins’ latest crusade is an ad campaign exhorting people with “There’s probably no god, so stop worrying…”

Why false teachers don’t want you to read the Bible yourself

There is a reason why cults and apostate churches demand the right to “interpret” the scriptures for their followers–it is because no sane person could ever read the scriptures for himself or herself and arrive at the conclusions the false teachers want their people to believe.
From the Vatican’s teachings that there is a purgatory, and that Mary is the “mother of God” and a co-mediator with her Son between God and man, to the “Jehovah’s witnesses” claim that Jesus is a created being that started out as Michael the Archangel until he was given a body in Bethlehem, that he was killed on a stake, not a cross, and that God is not omnipresent but lives on a particular star in outer space, to the mormons’ assertion that Jesus and Satan are brothers in a cosmic battle of petty sibling rivalry, to the eastern orthodox tradition of baptizing horses, selling communion bread, and doing a divination ceremony for 1 year olds to predict their future–the only way such beliefs can ever take hold is if the leaders intentionally keep the followers ignorant of what the word of God says.
That’s why I have repeatedly instructed those who are hearing my teaching here in Cluj on Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, that they are being held responsible by God to read the Bible for themselves, and to not accept anything that I tell them if they do not find it to be the clear, plain teaching of the Scriptures. While I do not ever want to be in error in my teaching, and I pray and study to try to prevent it, I have to say that if I am wrong in my teaching, it would be a very joyful moment in my life to have one of my disciples bring the Bible to show me the error of my ways. I would commend them publicly and suggest everyone emulate their Berea-like spirit.
Another thought on a somewhat related note–I was thinking on the importance of obeying the scriptures’ admonition to not be too quick to “lay hands” on some young believer, ordaining him for leadership of ministry. The founder of the JW cult, which now has five million-plus members, started out his work as an 18-year-old who was given a Bible class to teach in New York. Another example–David Koresh of Waco, Texas, whose false claims to be the messiah led to the physical and spiritual deaths of many, also began his false “ministry” as a youth, when he was given an adult Sunday school class to teach in an evangelical church.

Easy to Prove a Negative

Okay, so if you’ve debated atheists long enough, you’ve several times heard them whine about how you’re being unfair in the debate by requiring them to provide evidence for their beliefs, because, as they like to put it, “you can’t prove a negative” or “you can’t prove something DOESN’T exist.”
It’s nonsense, though. It is actually quite easy to prove a negative assertion, if that negative assertion is true. I wouldn’t break an intellectual sweat trying to sufficiently prove to you that there is no pink elephant sitting on my couch, there is no person on earth who is 40 feet tall, or that there is no Santa Claus or Easter bunny. It would be easy to find empirical evidence sufficient to persuade all but the most delusional of people that those negative assertions are entirely true, and not just provable, but proven.
The atheist’s problem isn’t that he is helplessly painted into a corner trying to defend a negative assertion–the non-existence of someone. His problem is that his negative assertion not only lacks supporting evidence, but is at odds with an infinite amount of evidence to the contrary. His problem is that the reason he cannot prove God isn’t there, is that he is simply wrong.
